Everlife: The Story of the Ross Sisters Who Conquered Disney and Pop Rock
Few bands can claim a journey as organically heartfelt as that of Everlife, the all-sister pop rock trio that emerged from Indiana, Pennsylvania, in the late 1990s. Formed in the winter of 1997, the group brought together siblings Amber, Sarah, and Julia Ross, each contributing their own musical voice — Amber on guitar, Sarah on drums, and Julia on keyboard. What began as a family passion project would eventually grow into one of the most recognizable names in Disney-affiliated pop music of the 2000s.
The band's early story is one of community and connection. In 2002, Everlife and their mother Susan shared a song with the members of Seventh Day Slumber, a meeting that proved pivotal. The established Christian rock band recognized the sisters' raw potential and helped open doors to the music industry in Nashville, Tennessee. By 2003, the Ross family had relocated entirely to Nashville, where Everlife signed their first record deal with Independent Records and released their debut effort, Daydream: An Acoustic Album. It was a modest but meaningful first step, one that showcased the sisters' natural harmonies and songwriting instincts.
The momentum continued to build when their A&R contact Gary Chapman guided them toward a second record deal, this time with Tovah Records in association with Crowne Music Group. Their self-titled album Everlife, released in 2004, marked a significant leap forward. The song I'm Over It caught the ear of Radio Disney's Dallas station, KMKI AM 620, setting off a chain of events that would define the band's career. The Buena Vista Music Group took notice, signing Everlife to a deal that placed them squarely within the expansive Disney music ecosystem.
Under the Disney banner, Everlife flourished. Their track Find Yourself in You earned prominent nationwide rotation on Radio Disney, and the sisters sang the title song for the 2005 Disney original film Go Figure, cementing their status as go-to artists for the brand. Their Hollywood Records release of Everlife in 2007 peaked at number 121 on the Billboard 200, a testament to their growing fanbase. Over the course of their Disney years, the trio contributed songs to 12 Disney compilations, appeared on four Disney film soundtracks, and featured on two Disney TV soundtracks — a body of work that few independent acts of their era could match.
Beyond the studio, Everlife proved themselves on the live stage. On July 22, 2006, they performed at Disney's celebrated Totally 10 Birthday Concert alongside Miley Cyrus, Aly & AJ, Jesse McCartney, Bowling for Soup, and the Cheetah Girls. They went on to open for the Cheetah Girls on the tail end of The Party's Just Begun Tour, joined Miley Cyrus for the final six dates of her iconic Best of Both Worlds Tour, and supported the Jonas Brothers during their 2009 Nashville stop. The sisters also took their music internationally, completing three tours across the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
Even after parting ways with Buena Vista Records, Everlife maintained a strong creative relationship with Disney while continuing to evolve their sound independently. Their final studio album, At the End of Everything, was released in March 2013 on 97 Records, serving as both a creative capstone and a fond farewell to their fans. Shortly after its release, the sisters officially disbanded to pursue individual solo careers, closing the chapter on over a decade of music-making together.
The legacy of Everlife endures as a story of sisterhood, faith, and pop craftsmanship. From a family living room in Indiana, Pennsylvania, to the stages of major Disney events and the playlists of a generation of young music lovers, Amber, Sarah, and Julia Ross proved that genuine talent, when nurtured with dedication, can travel remarkably far.
