The Contractions: San Francisco's Punk Trio Who Kicked Ass and Took Names

The Contractions formed in San Francisco in 1979, when guitarist Mary Kelley, drummer Deb Hopkins, and bassist Kathy Peck united as a self-described three-legged chair. Sharing stages with Dead Kennedys, Flipper, and The Go-Go's at Mabuhay Gardens, the trio built a fierce reputation before disbanding in 1985.
